My family recently took a trip to Disney World, and we had the best time! Before this last time, it had been 6 years since I’d been there! It really healed some part of my inner child to be back, and I’m so thankful for the time spent with family on that trip. We don’t often take huge family vacations (vacations that include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.), but we did this time, and it was so nice to get out of our everyday routines!
While on vacation, my routine gets pushed to the back of my mind because I’m so focused on trying new things that I don’t get to do everyday! Getting out of your routine can be very beneficial for growing in the Word as well! If reading, studying, and meditating on the Word is not already in your daily routine, I challenge you to take some time away and see how it can help you.
I used to hate change because I obsessed over my daily routine. Thankfully, I am not that person anymore because I realize that life is constantly changing, and there is nothing I can do to stop it! When you learn to welcome change with open arms, you learn how to adapt and benefit from it. My family takes 1-2 vacations each year, so we don’t get out much…I’ve learned to cherish the time on vacation because it allows me to get away from everyday life and take some time to enjoy my family and God’s creation!
This is one of my shorter posts, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less important! If you feel stuck or bored with your everyday routine, take some time and ask God to guide you into something new! Change is not always fun, but it is necessary for growth. Vacation is a great way to take some time away, but I realize we can’t all just hop in the car and drive wherever we want. Taking time away can also mean putting your phone down for 1-2 hours, and spending that time in the Word and in prayer with God!
This week, I challenge you to try something new, and if you don’t like it, that’s totally fine. I’m not asking you to make a lifelong commitment to anything, I’m just asking you to try! I pray that God would guide you towards something new this week, and that you would have a posture of receiving His intervention!
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
