It can be so easy to get caught up in this life. Something so minuscule can seem so important in the moment. I can think back to so many times where I thought my world was ending over something that has no impact on me today! Living your life to the fullest does not mean living up to the world’s standards—it’s living up to God’s standards!
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:16
God knows exactly how long you will live, but you don’t. There is a finish line—this world will not last forever.
How should we be living?
Grow in clear thinking!
“The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.” 1 Peter 4:7
Live sensible knowing that this life is not all that there is. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” Romans 12:2
Stop letting the world squeeze you into its mold! The Word of God allows you to keep a sound mind. It should be the framework through which we see the world.
“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prosper.” Psalm 1:1-3
Be sober so you can pray!
Earth is not the end. “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
Jesus saw the cross, but He also saw past the cross. “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
Remember that we are in constant spiritual warfare. Your flesh is not strong enough to win by itself.
Love all believers and people faithfully!
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8
Don’t be consumed with yourself! Put others before you—remember that love forgives. Forgiving can be difficult, but it must be done in order to move forward. We have to love each other especially when times get hard. “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.” Proverbs 10:12
Use your gift to spread God’s Kingdom!
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10-11
God HAS given you a gift, so share it with others and use it to glorify Him. When you use your gifts, people get blessed. You are meant to bless people with your gift.
I pray that everyone has an amazing week and that you would take this message to heart. I know I definitely need to! Living for God over the world is so important, but it can be so challenging, so take this as your reminder. I’ll see you next Monday!
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
I want to meet with you more than just Sundays. I want to know more than just my mother’s faith ‘cause that’s not enough to get through the rough. Oh, I need a Monday morning faith.
