It can be so easy for us to get stressed out during the holiday season—from having to find the perfect gift for your friends and coworkers to going to 7 Christmas parties where you have to bring a dirty Santa gift. There is so much on our minds during the holidays, but let’s take a step back and see Christmas through the eyes of a child!
Children have this amazing sense of wonder, and they want to know everything about everything. Sometimes we can get frustrated when kids keeping asking us “why?” but this is something we should be asking ourselves more!
Here’s the big question: What is so important about Christmas?
Well let me tell you! We are celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who would grow up just to die to save us from a death that we deserved. The story of Jesus’ birth is so powerful, and I encourage you all to read it this Christmas season. (Matthew 1:18-25, Matthew 2:1-12, Luke 1:26-38, Luke 2:1-21)
Christmas is not about opening and receiving gifts under the tree; it is about us accepting the most amazing gift we have ever received, Jesus! Jesus was sent to earth to save us from our sins—He loved us enough to die for us, so we should celebrate His birth!
I encourage you to keep asking yourself why you celebrate Christmas because you will be reminded that Jesus is the reason we get to be here at all. Think about it this way: if the world was a fair place, we would all be crucified on the cross. Instead, Jesus paid the price as the ultimate sacrifice and forgave us for our past, present, and future sins.
Turn to Jesus in this time of celebration, and thank Him for His amazing gift! He has given us more than we deserve, and yet He continues to bless us each and every day. I don’t know about you, but I see the Lord’s goodness in every situation, and I encourage you to do the same. Look at Christmas through the eyes of a child this year and remind yourself why you get to celebrate!
Have a merry Christmas, and I’m praying for each and every one of you throughout this holiday season!
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Wow - so, so true! Thank you for this reminder, Lysie! I love you very much! ❤️🫶🏻
