My birthday was this past weekend, and I am now officially 19! It’s crazy to believe that I have made 19 laps around the sun, but I’m thankful for this time the Lord has blessed me with. Throughout my year of being 18, God taught me so many things that I am constantly applying to my life today.
19 years is 6935 days. (It’s kind of crazy when you really think about it!) Each day is a blessing, so if you think God is not listening to your prayers, remember that He has blessed you by waking you up for another day!
This post is going to be a little different than my usual ones! Now that I’ve introduced this post, allow me to recap this fantastic day.
🫧 Top Golf with the Fam!
On the morning of my birthday, my family and I went to Top Golf just to do something fun! If you know me, you know I’m pretty bad a golf, so this was a humbling experience for sure — still fun, nonetheless! I found myself throughout my two hours there being so thankful for my family and for the blessing that it is to be able to do things with them. Not everyone has the same familial relationship that I do, and I thank God everyday for these people He’s placed in my life.
Some people may think it’s a little strange to be thinking about Jesus at Top Golf, but I love it! God is applicable in every situation, so of course I’m going to think about and thank my Creator for the blessings He has placed in my life.
After Top Golf, my family and I ran some errands then went back home to prepare for the party with the rest of my family!
🫧 The Lemly Family Feast!
One thing about my family is that we LOVE good food. One of my favorite dishes that my mom makes is her chicken alfredo (which is kind of strange considering I don’t like cheese!). We also had some salad along with some garlic bread. My dad also put some shrimp on the smoker as an appetizer! Now onto the drinks: my grandmother makes this amazing coffee punch that I love. She surprised me with it, and it is delicious! My family also likes to try a ton of strange soft drinks like sprite+tea and tropical 7up. Needless to say, I love a fun drink option.
Based on that entire paragraph about food, I think you can tell how important it is for a Lemly family gathering. We had all of this food for 9 people btw! Having my family over for my birthday is one of my favorites parts of the day. To see everyone gathered together in celebration is something I wouldn’t change for the world.
I am also so blessed to have a family that can put food on the table and cater to a group of people. God has truly blessed me in so many aspects of life that I tend to look over. Sometimes I am oblivious to the fact that not everyone knows where there next meal is coming from. Something I have been working on is to remember to thank God for the things that may seem “little” in my life because they would make a huge difference in someone else’s.
🫧 Thoughts Moving Forward!
Throughout this next year of life there are a few things that I want to focus on.
patience! I believe this will be an ongoing theme in my life considering I have never been a super patient person. I have to remember that patience takes practice. It’s still a work in progress, but I am trying to focus on it a little more.
peace! Sometimes life can seem so uncertain. I had no plans going into this summer, so I really didn’t know what to expect. Instead of stressing about how to fill my empty schedule, the Lord has given me peace. I spent so much time in my freshman year of college trying to keep myself busy that it pushed me away from my relationship with the Lord. I am trying to learn to find peace in the mundane moments so I can further strengthen my relationship with God!
purpose! This is a big one for me. I am a planner at heart, so I wish I could see exactly where I am going to be in the next 10 years and everyday in between. I am the type of person who wants to be prepared for any situation, so trusting God’s plan and purpose for my life is something I struggle with. I have to constantly remind myself that God’s plan is so much greater than anything I could come up with for myself. I may not know exactly what my purpose is, but that doesn’t stop me from living my life on fire for the Lord! God’s plan will be revealed in His timing, and that is something that I am working on coming to terms with.
While this may have been an unusual post, I still hope you enjoyed reading it. I’m so thankful for the Lord’s blessings in my life, and I can’t wait to see all that He will teach me in this next year. I pray that you all have a blessed week, and I’ll see you next Monday!
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
